Kiko inspected the water can to be sure it had the right amount of water. It was tough getting anything past his sharp brown eyes. Meanwhile, the new cement was curing before the guy came back to stain it a sort of brown for the ultimate aesthetic. Weeds needed pulling. There was time to sit out on the patio listening to the wireless radio in the warmth of nearly bug-free evenings. It was the dog's gift to those of us who dressed warm all winter. One more thing we owe dogs.
